What is your educational background?

What is your experience?
2008 – 2017 preschool teacher / admin, Early elementary – 2018-2023, Middle school 23-24, back to 3rd grade for 24-25!

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
Teaching was not originally in my life plan but God opened some doors for me when my oldest boy was 2, he is now 18. God has kept me in the education field all through my kids’ childhoods, often shifting my assignment in a way that one of my own kids’ needs would be met unbeknownst to me. I look forward to what and who God is bringing my way this year so I can continue to strengthen my own walk in faith and sprinkle some Jesus love on little ones too.

Currently working on MS in Child Life through Texas Woman’s University.

What is your experience?
I started teaching the fall of 2019, just in time for COVID to hit that spring! In total, I spent three years teaching in public school in Lubbock, Texas, where I spent one year teaching 4th grade ELAR/SS/Science and two years teaching 2nd grade Math/Science. This will be my sixth year teaching overall and my third year teaching 3rd grade Math/Science here at CCA!

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
To keep a long story short (although I would love to share it with you!), one of the most challenging seasons in my life blessed me with the connection that Holy Spirit used to guide me here to CCA. Despite being convinced that I was done teaching in 2022, I’ve found myself in love with this new mission field I’ve been given. I’m so grateful that God knows my heart and how much I love children and math, and that He’s given me a way to know Him and make Him known through those desires, all in the name of Jesus Christ as the foundation.

What is your experience?
Began teaching in 2007 in Richardson ISD and taught 4th grade. Stayed home with my babies and came back to the classroom in 2021 at CCA. This will be my 4th year teaching kindergarten at CCA.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
Our pastors encouraged us to send our oldest son to CCA back in 2015. I researched the school. The Lord opened doors and we were able to enroll him. I quickly loved the school and home balance that CCA provides. I loved how God was in the middle of our days, even when we were doing school at our kitchen table. When our daughter began attending CCA, I realized God was calling me to do something. Through a series of phone calls, God moved and called me back to the classroom to teach kindergarten. My childhood dream of teaching kindergarten had come true. I am thankful for each day I get to be in the classroom because I get to share God’s word and love with my students.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
We were looking for a Christian based school when our eldest child was about to enter into kinder and we came across Cca and decided to try it out. I so appreciated the teachers that helped lay a strong foundation of faith for our children! After one year at Cca I was asked by the Cca principal at that time if I would be interested in teaching and I said “yes”! I feel honored to have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with my students on a daily basis! It is so encouraging to see our students growing in their faith and relationship with the Lord and I love that I get to play a small part in planting those seeds.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
I felt the calling to become a teacher at an early age and began teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church, and VBS as a high school student. The Lord continued to open doors to teach during my college days and into adulthood. After many years of teaching children in public school, I heard about CCA, and the Lord opened the door for me to become a kindergarten teacher at CCA. I am so grateful for the experiences that I’ve had over the years with sharing the love of Jesus through the opportunities with my church and the years of being a public school teacher. Together, these experiences helped prepare me to serve as a CCA Warrior.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
Growing up I had a passion for children, playing sports, riding horses, and art class. After starting a family and raising four children, my husband and I desired to give them a Christ-centered education. This journey started with a private Christian School in Kansas. We then home-schooled for six years before moving to Texas. We experienced public school for a few years before finding CCA, an answer to prayer. When the opportunity to join the staff presented itself, we were blessed and amazed at God’s goodness. My children have now grown, and I still love my job and exploring art with the students.

What is your experience?
I have been teaching since 2006, and this will be my 17th year in the classroom. I have taught PreK, kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
The bulk of my teaching experience has been in public school. Although I enjoyed those years and loved the students I served, I always felt something was missing for my children and myself. I wanted my family to be surrounded by other families who love the Lord, and I wanted to be somewhere that places scripture at the center of everything. We did a family tour when my oldest was entering 3rd grade, and we felt such a peace about coming to CCA. The following year, a teaching position opened, and I knew I had to pursue it! I am so blessed to be at CCA, where I can point students to God!

Our family began at CCA 9 years ago. We were called here first when my husband took a job as a basketball coach. We truly loved the community and families we began to do life with. After a few years at CCA, I began subbing and eventually rolled on staff as a full time teacher. I love the kids and being able to share Jesus with them every day. The world will teach our children everything but Jesus, our job is to show them Jesus everyday and encourage them in their walk. I am thankful to be apart of CCA and walking God’s calling on our families life.

My desire is for every child to know how much they are loved and cared for by Him. Partnering with parents to disciple and educate their children is such a joy.

In the most recent three years, I have served CCA-specific families teaching Kindergarten prep classes on the same MWF schedule.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
I grew up hopping Christian Elementary schools followed by public school junior high and high school. My desire for my own children was to find a permanent schooling home from the beginning of our journey. I believe Biblical principles enrich all common core studies. I don’t believe these elements can be separated. Though my family made a quick move to Texas just before my first daughter began schooling and though we were located almost an hour from CCA when we committed to enrollment, when I walked on campus to tour, the Lord clearly said, “This is the place you will call home.” To join my four children on campus this year teaching Second Grade is a dream come true and an honor. I know the Lord will grow and bless me on this journey and I pray that in return I will be used to partner with parents to grow their children up in the knowledge and faith of our Lord and to be equally blessed as we build knowledge He has gifted us to know and serve with.

What is your experience?
Public School Teacher- 2001-2005, Homeschool/Co-op teacher 2012-2021, CCA Teacher 2022-Present

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
I left public education when I started having my own kids at home and I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. As they grew up and started attending school it became clear that the public school system (in Washington) was not equipped to help my daughter who struggled with Dyslexia and ADHD. We decided, at that point, that we would homeschool. I loved homeschooling my kids and really never thought I would teach in a school again. In 2021, I started to feel God working on me to apply at CCA- I truly cannot explain it any other way. I had nothing else prompting me, I just knew I had to be obedient to that tug. Through a series of events and God opening doors, I kept walking in obedience. When CCA called I just kept giving it up to God and He kept showing me that this was the right fit for me, my family and CCA. I love how teachers and administration get to work with students on a heart level and we all get to work together on growing closer to God and his purpose for each of us.

What is your educational background?
University of North Texas- B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education; Texas A&M-Commerce- M.S. in School Counseling

What is your experience?
I began teaching January of 1991 in a special education resource classroom followed up by self-contained 4th grade and 6th grade classrooms in public school. I then had 7 years experience in school counseling upon completion of my masters degree. From here, I was called to stay at home a few years, enjoying my young twins, one of which had been diagnosed with a disability. I learned as I watched my child attend many types of therapy and then I implemented new strategies for his benefit at home. Staying at home with my children was such a gift and a beautiful time for our family. After this child was settled and doing well in school, God called us to adoption twice. When the first adopted child entered preschool, I joined this world by teaching 2’s through pre-K for 9 years. From here, God called me to CCA where I will begin my third year now as the 5th grade ELA/History teacher.

I’ve been teaching Sunday School as well serving in our church children’s and youth ministries for many years. I absolutely love children and equipping them for the calling that Jesus has on their life. God called me to make a change for my two youngest children’s education and brought me to CCA. I love teaching in an environment where other parents and school staff have chosen to trust in and follow Jesus above all else. My hope is in Jesus and I am blessed to fulfill my calling here at CCA teaching two subjects that I have come to love and among the sweetest staff ever. It is my joy to teach the students of CCA and partner with parents to provide an education in academics as well as in discipling students for a life in Christ.

What is your educational background?
Texas A&M University; BS in Engineering Technology

What is your experience?
The 2024/2025 school year will be my 14th year to teach Spanish. I began at the pre-school level and worked my way up to teaching Spanish 2. Currently, I’m in my fifth year of teaching Spanish 1 at CCA to 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students. During the summer of 2022, my youngest daughter, Priscilla, and I traveled with the CCA Immersion Program throughout Costa Rica for 3 weeks, which was an incredible opportunity to practice our Spanish. My parents are both South American. My mom is from Colombia, and my dad is from Venezuela. Until I was 3 years old, Spanish was my first language. Unfortunately, I did not continue to speak it while I was growing up. which caused me to lose much of what I had once known. During my college years at Texas A&M, where I graduated with a degree in Engineering Technology, I studied abroad for a semester in Spain. At the University of Salamanca (located northwest of Madrid), I learned to speak Spanish once again. For anyone truly wanting to learn a language, I highly recommend immersion! Also, from my experience, it is important to continue practicing a language or it can be easily forgotten. I have enjoyed teaching Spanish and sharing my love for the language and culture with my students!

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
I homeschooled my 2 oldest daughters from kindergarten to their senior years, and God led me and our youngest daughter to pursue a change to CCA for her 8th to 12th grade years. It’s been a blessing, and I’m thankful to be a part of CCA!

My journey to Christian education was not traditional; I did not grow up in a Christian home and only came to know the Lord later in life. This transformative experience ignited a profound understanding of the importance of raising children to know and love the Lord. My desire to effectively contribute to this mission led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Christian Education at Dallas Theological Seminary. There, I deepened my skills in partnering with parents and mentoring children in their walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The educational model at CCA resonates deeply with my personal passion for nurturing the next generation of faithful believers. It offers a unique opportunity to integrate my faith with my professional skills, allowing me to serve the families of CCA by ensuring their children’s success both academically and spiritually. Here, I am committed to creating an environment that fosters spiritual growth and academic excellence, in partnership with parents, to guide each child towards fulfilling their God-given potential.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in 10th grade and have been teaching Sunday School since I was 17. Over the course of college, God showed me through various ways that High School was where he wanted me, and then confirmed that in my early conversations with Sandy Hanson about coming to work at CCA shortly after graduating.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
God has called all of us to be a light to the world and I believe that teaching students about science from a Biblical worldview fulfills that mission. As a student of the public school system, I went to college extremely confused as to how my Christian upbringing and science intersect. God has called me to teach students scientific concepts from a Biblical perspective, while still maintaining the rigor of a science classroom with the purpose of preparing them to not only grasp complex scientific principles, but to determine what is true through the Biblical lens.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
Since I started teaching in a Christian college, i received the message that God wanted me to continue instructing/teaching in a Christian environment. As much as I said “no” and went against God’s will, God continue to lead me towards teaching young students. My whole life I’ve been an advocate for Christian youth, and trying to help them realize how much God loves them and how important they are to Him. It wasn’t until 2015 that my call was clear and finally I surrender to God’s will and I found a passion in teaching our wonderful Christian children. It is my purpose in life to help students understand their worth and the love that God has for them, and through Science, we see everything that our wonderful Savior has make for us and with that we can glorify His name.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
After spending 35 years in public school (South Africa/California/Texas) with the purpose of indirectly challenging my students to read, write, and think with an eternal perspective, I now have the opportunity to directly challenge students (as the LORD directs) through scripture, through counsel, and through prayer. The freedom to pray at the beginning of each class and during times of counsel and confrontation for the purpose of nurturing character is a privilege I am thankful for.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
While working in the school district setting, several of my students had very difficult home lives and past experiences, and due to the district’s policy, I couldn’t mention God at all. Although I prayed for my students, it was incredibly difficult to not be able to comfort them with the knowledge that the Creator of the universe knew them and loved them. I realized that I wanted to work in an environment in which I could openly talk about God. Being a Christian doesn’t mean that the families and students don’t have difficulties and struggles, but it does change how we approach them and where we find our comfort. I love being able to assure students that regardless of what they are going through, they are seen and loved by their Father.

What is your experience?
My experience in schools goes back to 2008, during high schools and college, where I volunteered in a variety of schools as a UIL coach, tutor, and school mentor. These roles lead to long term substitute teacher positions and time as a teachers assistant. Eventually these opportunities lead me to CCA where my first year teaching began in 2018 as a middle school teacher.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
It was only by the true work of God that I was lead to CCA. I was in the season of being a new mom and wanting to be home with my baby but I still had a passion for the classroom and teaching. So, I was wrestling with which path to go… home or work. I was sure I couldn’t have both. Then, God lead me (only how He can) straight to CCA.  At first, I had no idea what a UMS was but once I interviewed and was offer the position it couldn’t have been more perfect.  I was able to be a teacher but also be with my children. CCA quickly became like family and I know this is where I was supposed to be.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
I was attending a Bible study with a friend that just enrolled her kids into this new start up school. They needed a variety of teachers including a secondary art teacher. It tugged at my heart for a couple of weeks before I contacted the principle. This community of believers has helped me grow in ways that only come form God. And that enables me to pass that faith along to teens through teaching them art.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
Before becoming an educator, I owned my own residential landscape business for 15 years. In 2013, God placed a profound call in my heart to leave landscaping an become a teacher. His message was simple – leave landscaping or my purpose for you will never be fulfilled. I followed in obedience and immediately devised a plan that led me to the teaching profession. Teaching is a ministry. Education without God will leave a person empty and searching for truth. I look forward to serving the Lord openly as content is taught. That is true education.
