What church do you attend?
Lavon Drive Baptist

What are your hobbies?
Fishing, hiking, tennis, visiting new places

What is your educational background?
Dordt College – B.A. Elementary Education; Marian University – MA in Educational Leadership

What is your experience?
I began teaching 6th grade in 1990 in Iowa. Over the next 30 years, I moved around the Midwest from Wisconsin to Minnesota and back to Wisconsin, teaching, serving as a coach and athletic director, principal, superintendent, and head of school throughout my time. My move to Texas was prompted by a desire to follow a nudge from God to try a new adventure in a new place.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
God called me to Christian education as a teenager. I was encouraged by my high school teachers and especially my jr. high mentor to follow this path. As I began my career, I had aspirations to get into administration. My then superintendent affirmed that call, and I enrolled in a professional development institute through Christian Schools International. From there I pursued my master’s degree. I have followed leadership and recently completed the Van Lunen Fellowship. Servant leadership has become a passion of mine. I want to take those principles and empower my teams at CCA to put their faith into practice in whatever area they serve. I love working with my teams at CCA!

God first called me to serve at CCA when our family was seeking a Christian education
for our children. At that same time, CCA was looking for a Business Manager, and the
opportunity was a wonderful example of God’s perfect provision and timing. I’m grateful
that He opened the door for our entire family to become part of the CCA community.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
I was a parent at CCA and began as a long term sub for English and history in 4th grade. I loved it, but at the time 4th grade was a self contained class, and I didn’t feel comfortable teaching math, and I was not a fan of the curriculum they were using. I prayed for an opportunity to open up because I had loved the experience so much, and at the end of the year the administration decided to reorganize upper elementary to more subject specific teachers and changed curriculum. I was asked to take on 4th and 5th grade English and history, and I had an amazing team of math and science coteachers that were opposite me. It was definitely a call from God that was out of my comfort zone, but I am so thankful I trusted him and found a passion for teaching and connecting with students and helping them grow academically and spiritually. Nine years later when a similar “out of my comfort zone” opportunity to move to high school happened, I was able to trust God and take on this new endeavor. He again was faithful in equipping me for the challenge he set before me, and working with high schoolers at CCA has been such an amazing blessing in my life.

How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?

I have never been one to sit idle, and as my boys have grown older and become more independent, my season as a semi-stay-at-home mom has gradually come to an end. Through my nursing career, God has continually shown me that I have a heart for serving others during their times of need.

In 2024, God led our family to CCA, and it has truly been a blessing. We love this school and wholeheartedly support its mission of equipping and discipling the next generation of Christian leaders. Because of that, it felt only natural for me to seek opportunities to serve the school and the families that make up the CCA community.

From an early age, I felt a strong calling to teach, starting with teaching dance at the age of 15. This passion for education has been a consistent thread throughout my life, and God has continually guided me in this direction. My journey took me to Africa, where I had the privilege of teaching local students and sharing the gospel in the classroom. This experience deepened my commitment to Christian education and solidified my belief in its transformative power.

At CCA, this calling shapes every aspect of how I serve. I strive to create an environment where students not only excel academically but also grow spiritually. By integrating faith into my teaching, I aim to inspire students to develop a personal relationship with God, equipping them to make a positive impact in the world. How did God call you to Christian education and how does that impact how you serve at CCA?
In March 2020, our oldest was in kindergarten and we just delivered our youngest of five children. Upon leaving the hospital, we were informed that we were to finish McKenna’s kinder year virtually. We began to hear God calling us to something different for our children’s education at this time. We knew that we couldn’t return to virtual school and began 1st grade homeschooling. God gave me the confidence that homeschool could be apart of our story. McKenna longed to return to the classroom and we re-enrolled in public once in-person school resumed. But God continued to stir our hearts towards something different. I wish we could say we were immediately obedient, but God was patient and persistent and his voice grew louder in our hearts. We learned about CCA and were excited for this model, it seemed to be the perfect blend of classroom and home. In addition to education, we wanted a place where teachers and role models would help nurture and foster our children’s relationship with their Lord and Savior. We are so thankful that this year all five of our children are now CCA Warriors.

My parents worked in public education for over 30 years and when they retired they began to work at a Trinity Christian in Paris, TX. I listened to them talk about how you can be open at school with professing your faith in Christ and sharing it with others. The last few years listening to them and praying about it I believe God has led me to working in a Christian education setting. While coaching I have led groups through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) I look to use my experience to be an example to our students through professing my faith, sharing my testimony, listening to others, praying with our students and staff, and being a servant leader in our school.
