How did God call you to coach at CCA?
I was led to this position by chance, through God’s plan. In looking for a way for my kids to run cross country and through a great conversation with Hutton Fitch I discovered that other students had interest to participate as well. I have always enjoyed seeing sports and the beauty of God’s creations through the eyes of athletes, it is a unique perspective as they navigate competition and their faith. I feel like this is such a special opportunity for CCA to represent our school spirit paving the path through cross country.

Briefly tell families how God called you to coach at Cornerstone Christian Academy.
While attending one of last season’s track & field meets in which my daughter (Blayke Edwards) was participating as a runner for CCA, I had plenty of downtime between her various events. During one of those waiting periods, I decided to walk over to the throwing area where some of her friends were participating in the shot put and discus competitions. This was of particular interest to me because I was a shot put and discus thrower throughout my school years. While watching our CCA athletes, I decided to share some advice based on the techniques I was seeing and what I had been taught in the past. After that, I volunteered to attend some of the CCA practices throughout the remainder of the season and continued providing advice to the junior high and high school throwers. I even got Blayke to participate in the discus (which she now loves). The team had a fantastic throwing season with one athlete that made it to regionals in shot put, one athlete that made it to state in discus, and several junior high throwers that I know will be high level regional and state competitors when moving up to high school. Following last season, I felt that God had called me to officially apply for an assistant coaching role in track & field, continuing to sharing my knowledge of these great sports and some of the deeper lessons behind them. I truly believe that athletics offer incredible life lessons for student athletes, which I was blessed to have experienced from many coaches and through several sports (primarily football and track & field) myself when I was younger. Some of these lessons that a coach gets the honor of guiding their athletes through include discipline, respect, camaraderie, teamwork, grace in defeat, humility in victory, and many more that they will carry into adulthood. I know that God has many great lessons for coaches as well, like patience, support, patience, and purpose. And patience. Did I say patience? :)
